Chicken wing dissection

Chicken Wing Dissection

To dissect the chicken wing we used a scalpel, scissors, forceps and a probe. We laid it on a piece of newspaper and put on some rubber gloves.

First we cut off all the skin revealing all the muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones.

We pulled on the tricep to move the wing outwards and the bicep to make the wing move inwards.

After we moved and looked at all the muscles we cut them off to have a look at the bones underneath.

Once we            were just down to the bones we looked at the comparisons to the bones in                  t                       the chicken wings to our human arms. Like humans the chicken wing has both            a                        an ulna and a radius. They also have a humorous leading to their elbow. The                           o                       only real difference being that the chickens fingers were spread out to form the wings.         To finish the dissection we cracked open the elbow joint to see the cartilage on the bone.

T                    To clean up ewe disposed everything hygienically and washed the dissection utensils.
